🎨 Indigenous Artists – Ready to Grow Your Art Into a Business?

Join renowned Comanche artist Nocona Burgess for The Business of Art, a 3-part virtual class created especially for Native creatives who are ready to take their talents to the next level.

Whether you’re a painter, carver, beader, or multi-disciplinary artist—this class will help you build the business side of your art practice with confidence, culture, and professionalism.

In this course, you’ll learn how to:

✔️ Set up a professional studio or workspace

✔️ Promote your work with a website, bio, and social media

✔️ Price your art and track your sales

✔️ Build relationships with galleries and shows

✔️ Organize your records, contracts, and taxes

✔️ Create a promo pack that reflects who you are and what you stand for

This is more than a class—it’s a roadmap to help you stay grounded in your art, your story, and your community while growing your presence in the art world.

Biography:
Nocona Burgess, a member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma and descendant of Chief Quanah Parker, is a nationally and internationally recognized Native artist known for his bold, modern portraits of Indigenous people from across North America. His work blends historical research with personal heritage, using vivid color and traditional symbolism to honor Native identity while challenging outdated perceptions. With a BFA from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and a Master’s in Art Education from the University of New Mexico, Burgess has exhibited widely—including at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian—and continues to bridge past and present through contemporary Native art.

This workshop are made possible through support from the Small Business Administration, USDA Rural Development, the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, and the Elevate Initiative.
