SUMMARY:Bishop Journey Into Business
DESCRIPTION:Come learn what it takes to build a small business in a collaborative process with Native entrepreneurs just like yourself. We’ll be building a mock CO.STARTERS Canvas so you’re prepared when you’re ready to launch your business. \nThis isn’t just for newbies.  If you want to launch a new product or move into a new business or geographical area\, the CO.STARTERS Canvas can be invaluable in getting your priorities strait before you start.  We’ll also be integrating technology and showing how AI can help you fill out your canvas.  The workshop will feature giveaways\, prizes\, snacks and more with attendance! \nThe Bishop Journey into Native Business powered by CO.STARTERS will take place Tuesday\, March 4th from 9 am to 1 pm.  Registration is open to all community members and the workshop is free to attend.  To register please click on the “Going” button above and fill in your information. \nThe Workshop will be held at the Wanaaha Casino Conference Room which is located 2742 N. Sierra Hwy in Bishop\, CA . \nFor more information\, please contact our community host Susie West\, from the Bishop TERO Office.  She can be reached at 760-873-7893 or by sending her an email at Susie.West@bishoppaiute.org. \nYou can also reach out to Mark Thompson from the IDRS Acorn Project at 916-803-7550 or at mark@idrsinc.org. \nAbout Your Presenter: \nMark Thompson serves the Executive Director of Indian Dispute Resolution Services.  He also guides the IDRS Acorn Project\, IDRS’ microenterprise development program\, where he provides entrepreneurial training and technical assistance to Native American entrepreneurs and works with businesses operated by Native American tribes to conduct feasibility studies\, develop business plans\, establish internal accounting procedures and secure grant funding to further economic development through the creation of small businesses in Indian Country. \nOutside of his work for IDRS\, Mark has formally been involved in several small businesses including a real estate company\, a restaurant\, and a mobile disc jockey service.  Mr. Thompson received his BS in Business from University of California\, Berkeley and completed the Juris Doctorate degree from the University of the Pacific\, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. He lives outside Sacramento\, California where he and his wife Mandi operate a small horse boarding facility and are raising two children\, Zane and Marina. \nThis workshop is funded by the USDA Rural Development\, the Small Business Administration\, the Elevate Initiative\, and the Bank of America Foundation. \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Bishop TERO CO.STARTERS Bootcamp
DESCRIPTION:Calling all Native entrepreneurs (or those that want to be!) \nWe are launching a two-day\, in-person bootcamp to help you develop a viable business model\, refine it\, and then create and market the business. We’ll dive into getting customers\, financial modeling\, and setting goals within your business. After the four sessions\, you’ll have a plan to take action! \nThe Bootcamp utilizes the CO.STARTERS platform and curriculum. CO.STARTERS is a global support network that equips communities with proven programs to empower local entrepreneurs. IDRS is proud to be one of the pioneering organizations in the US to bring CO.STARTERS to Indian Country. Participants in the Bootcamp will receive a CO.STARTERS manual\, access to their online community of like-minded entrepreneurs\, a chance to win prizes\, and snacks! \nThe IDRS Acorn Project\, in partnership with Bishop TERO\, will present CO.STARTERS Bootcamp on Thursday and Friday\, April 18th and 19th\, 2024 from 8 am to 5 pm.  This is a 2-day training and attendance both days is required.  Registration is open to all community members and the workshop is free to attend.  To register please click on the “Going” button below and fill in your information. \nThe workshop will be located in Palace Room at the Wanaaha Casino at 2742 N. Through the program\, she teaches youth how to explore entrepreneurship and create side hustles which provides them the opportunity to make money while continuing to focus on their education . She has worked in youth development and in nonprofit for the last 18 years\, both writing and facilitating camps across the nation. She has co-facilitated camps with the Drug-Free Communities National Initiative\, Students Working Against Tobacco\, Cherokee Nation Behavioral Health\, ONABEN\, the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse\, and more. Camille dedicated five years of her youth development career as the Chief Operating Officer of Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma. She successfully assisted in one the largest youth entrepreneur programs as she helped build strategy and infrastructure for a cookie sale campaign that led to her local Council selling over 1 million boxes of Girl Scout Cookies in Eastern Oklahoma.\n​\nCamille is a United States Navy Veteran and is proud to have represented the Cherokee Tribe in the military. During the time she served\, only 15.4% of the military was comprised of Native American members\, likewise\, only 4% were female members. She has a Masters Degree in Organizational Management. Camille lives in Jenks\, Oklahoma\, is married to a Firefighter and has three children. \n\nThe workshop will be presented in partnership with Reinventing Rural\, an non-profit supporting small businesses in rural and Tribal communities throughout Oregon. \nThe CO.STARTERS Bootcamp is funded in part by the Bishop Paiute Tribe\, Bishop TERO\, the Small Business Administration\, USDA Rural Business Development\, and the CA Governor’s Office of Business & Economic Development. \n\n\n	Related
